Abstract

Fluvial corridors, that is those territories which though subjected to competing claims must be assigned first and foremost to the natural manifestation and evolution of rivers, are studied with new methodological approaches in the sphere of different Planning instruments. Here described are the main historical phases of definition and planning of fluvial corridors in Urban planning, Fluvial parks planning and Watersheds planning. The most recent evolutions and the most innovative instances of river corridor planning are here identified and examined.
