Innovation in the field of pipe prefabrication for sewer-systems
Abstract
Millions of litres of wastewater seep into the soil and groundwater every year through defective pipes. The necessary repair of such damage and exchange of pipes is complicated and very expensive. Furthermore an optimal efficiency of conveyance of fluids is guaranteed when there are no leaks in the sewer system. Conscious of the necessity of solving this problem, that is a fundamental element for the protection of human health and environment, Assotubi Ecologica proposes a technique for improving common concrete pipes. Pipe are produced according to the technology of turbocentrifugation in vertical axle or radial compression, so called because a pipe is built by a rotary piston that while rotating at high speed and rising slowly, compresses the concrete into caisson. After the seasoning a polyurethane resin lining (Bayer-PU-Baydur 60 produced in Leverkusen, Germany) with a thickness of 6 nominal millimeters is applied to it. The lining can be put only on the joints (groove and tongue joints) or all over the pipe (joint + inside surface). The lining is obtained by pressing with steel dies, which are turned and so geometrically precise. The reinforced — concrete pipes are available with a range from ϕ= 400 up to ϕ = 2000 and with a standard length = 2.5 m. Electrosolded reinforcing bars are produced by automatic machines that create cages able to resist to stress and internal pressure. The new technique offers several advantages: The polyurethane lining resists to any type of acids or chemical compounds and colibatteria that are contained in all the sewer liquids; Lining provides the pipe with a high abrasive resistance; The resistance of this pipe is 30–40% higher than the one of a normal concrete pipe; Pipes coated with polyurethane system can withstand a water pressure of 7 bar; This pipe has 20% minus of head loss that a normal one.
