Abstract

Natural and anthropogenic hazards associated with mine tailings impoundments seriously threaten not only the local people and property, but also the whole river valley environment. Therefore, numerical modelling of flows, occurring as a consequence of a damage or a breach of the impoundment dam, is a crucial task in assessing environmental impacts of such hazards.
