Computation of sand erosion around a river groyne
Abstract
Numerical model are suitable tools for the prediction of river evolution by sediment transport, erosion and deposition in alluvial channels. Their capabilities are even more useful whenever new water works are planned which could alter the flow field and an estimate of river evolution is necessary. Here the change in bed configuration in presence of a river groyne is simulated, with reference to a rectangular channel with fixed wall and granular bed as in Rajartnam and Nwachukwu experiments (1983).
