Reservoir rehabilitation by the sediment evacuation pipeline system and sediment utilization as raw material for the cement industry
Abstract
The rehabilitation of the Camastra reservoir (Southern Italy) by the Sediment Evacuation Pipeline System (SEPS) has been planned in conjunction with the potential use of sediment as a source of raw materials in the cement manufacture. The Camastra reservoir was interested during the last 10 years by a series of bathymetric investigations and sampling operations. During the most recent analyses, which showed a silting up leading to a reduction of about 40% in the reservoir capacity, the sediment characterization was performed also in view of its further utilization.
