Combined reservoir rehabilitation and sediment utilization Economic defence

The paper deals with the study of a reservoir rehabilitation based on the sediment evacuation pipeline system (SEPS). The system enables to restore the reservoir capacity and allows to determine, in view of the sediment utilization, the maximum distance that the water-soil mixture can cover along the river channel. The case study of the Camastra reservoir (Southern Italy) is proposed as a first attempt at combining both rehabilitation and sediment utilization for environmental, industrial and/or agricultural purposes. These combined activities, rehabilitation and utilization, are here synthetically indicated as ‘ECONOMIC DEFENCE’.
