Abstract

In arid and semi-arid regions, the rainfall regimes are irregular. The annual average can be recorded in a single rainfall. Large floods are often observed and flood water can be stored for later use. The two famous techniques of water harvesting in the south of tunisia are spreading of water flood over the neighbouring areas and the ‘Jessours’ which are small terraces storing water in the soil profile for later use by crops.
