Ground improvement using lime-fly ash column method
Abstract
Fly ash is an industrial waste coming out of thermal plants and disposing of this material is a serious problem. Out of several millions of tones of fly ash produced only a small fraction is utilized for making by products. An experimental investigation is carried out to assess the influence of fly ash of lime-fly ash mixture on the physical and engineering properties of soft clays. Results indicate that the strength of soil increases and plasticity reduces on treatment. A method to predict the strength of lime-fly ash treated soil is also presented.
