Abstract

The study aimed at the development of a new technology for the stabilization of sandy soils. The study approach is based on the development of a polymeric formulation that can be applied from a water base to increase compressive strength and decrease hydraulic conductivity of sandy soils. The developed technology will potentially eliminate the need for the current use of geomembranes in geoengineering applications. The experimental results suggested that the water-born polymer formulation exhibits reasonable impregnation depth into the soil formation and the dried impregnated soil displays significant increase in compressive strength and decrease in hydraulic conductivity of the treated soil.
