Abstract

The multi-purpose ventilation network analysis system “KAZEMARU” is a personal computer software developed to solve various kinds of ventilation network problems. It has been used at mines in Japan and several other countries for more than ten years. The main functions of the software are: ordinary ventilation network analysis, which calculates airflow distribution in a network; ventilation network analysis under mine fire conditions, which shows the effects of high temperature of a fire and the progress of the toxic fumes generated by fire; thermal environment analysis in a network, i.e., simultaneous analysis of airflow rate, air temperature and humidity in a network; and detection of an abnormal resistance of roadway by measured airflow rate changes in a network. This paper describes the details of the above functions and the methods utilized in the analysis.
