Spontaneous Heating in A Longwall Face - A Case Study of Jhanjra Project
Abstract
Jhanjra Mine of Eastern Coalfields Limited was planned for extraction by Iongwall caving method. Ten Iongwall faces were successfully worked in the topmost Vll seam. During extraction of the first panel in the next lower Vll A seam, incidence of occurrence of CO caused sealing off of the panel on 1.9.99. This paper describes the successful attempt to reopen the panel by adopting different fire fighting methods at different phases. Details of these methods are also presented in the paper
