A Conceptual Vision for Future R&D in Mine Ventilation
Abstract
Coal production from opencast mines, which accounts for more than three-fourth of annual figure today, would soon reach a plateau. Any increase in coal requirement after that would have to come from underground mines. But, are we ready? R&D findings need considerable gestation period for industry assimilation. It is therefore necessary that priorities are identified and research initiated well in advance lest we are caught unaware. This paper outlines a few areas.
