Abstract

In shaft and tunnel work a number of boreholes are drilled in highly constricted areas. Under such circumstances the risk of drilling into boreholes with explosives is higher than in other type of construction work. It is important to inspect the tunnel face carefully and look for undetonated explosives from the last round and make sure that the drill is not placed in a borehole of the previous blast. This should be routine work performed according to a fixed procedure.
