Abstract

Safety and health of workers and the protection of the environment have been of great concern during recent years to many parties involved in the construction process in many countries around the world. In most cases, a significant number of laws and regulations were enacted by these countries, driven by recommendations of international organizations, such as the International Labor Organization, World Health Organization, International Organization for Standardization, among others. Other countries are following general directives, which are designed to be applied by all members of a group, as with the European Union.
