Abstract

Health risk management in construction poses unique challenges due to the nature of the industry. Occupational injuries and associated costs are disproportionately represented in this small segment of total working population. Although occupationally related illnesses are well documented, they are difficult to recognize in the general practice of medicine and temporal management of the construction workers’ health, generally permanent in scope and largely preventable. Therefore a strong focus on prevention, safety and early recognition is the key to optimal health risk management.
