TBM performance and the initial requirements for ‘Q TBM’
Abstract
Several improvements must be made to the Q parameters incorporated in a ‘ Q tbm -value’ if it is to describe parameters of special relevance to TBM penetration rate. An oriented RQD-value, a more relevant J r / J a value and an SRF value that reflects cutter load in relation to rock strength are each quite basic requirements, and the list can be made longer.
