Revisiting cutter force effects
Abstract
Before leaving Equation 27 as the ‘final version’ for estimating Q TBM , the possible limits of Q TBM can again be explored, this time considering variations in cutter load. We must make a reasonable assumption that F = 1 tnf will be the limiting case (e.g. Star Mine). However, through faulted rock even lower values than 1 tnf could be used. Obviously today a minimum rated F value probably in excess of 10 tnf would be realistic.
