Abstract

In this chapter, some of the basic factors such as rock strength and joint frequency will be examined, prior to more detailed treatment later. The conceptual probe drilling shown in Figure 6 penetrates a rock mass that has two levels of uniaxial strength (σ 1 and σ c 2 ) and two levels of joint frequency ( F l and F 2). Experience shows that when drilling and when boring, the more massive and higher strength combination: https://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="block"> F 1 , σ c 2 , and Q 1(max)
