Abstract

The quantity of rainfall is considered as the most important factor in the design of any hydraulics structure or in the study of water resources of catchments area or region. The most difficult problem in this field is how to determine the quantity of rainfall of desired Average Return Period for the study area; this problem increases in the areas where no records are available or in shortage of records. For the importance of this hydrological factor, an empirical model of regional rainfall has been created. The model has been done by using statistical analysis of records of 59 climatic station cover all area of Libya. The model is done using the methodology of Flood-Index (surveying dept. USA). This model makes very possible to determine the annual quantity of rainfall for any period and to any region in Libya.
