Integration of SCS-CN and USL equations for determination of sediment yield
Abstract
For determination of the sediment yield, the Soil Conservation Service Curve Number (SCS-CN) method (SCS, 1956) is coupled with the universal soil loss equation (USLE). The coupling leads to an analytical method that use a new C = S r = DR concept, where C is the runoff coefficient, S r is the degree of saturation, and DR is the sediment delivery ratio, and requires data on using rainfall and watershed characteristics. The method permits to interpret the potential maximum retention from USLE. An application of the method to rainfall-runoff-sediment data of a micro paved-watershed (area = 300 m 2 ) located in Cincinnati, Ohio, USA, yields satisfactory results.
