Abstract

A relational database is being developed to facilitate data storage and information retrieval for scientists and technicians working on an experimental watershed. The project includes (1) migrating legacy hydrologic and climatic records to a modern data storage system; (2) developing new systems for extracting information from data logger records and moving that information to our data storage system; (3) developing an environmental sampling data–entry system to track samples along with QA/QC information from collection through laboratory processing, and into our data storage system; (4) updating field operation data entry to incorporate handheld devices to record and store all agronomic observations associated with research fields and plots; and (5) providing a graphical interface that allows easy access to the many data layers.
