Physically based model of discontinuous distribution for hydrological samples with zero values
Abstract
It is hypothesized that the impulse response of a linearized kinematic diffusion (LK) model is a probability distribution suitable for frequency analysis of hydrological sample with zero values. Such samples are observed in arid and semiarid regions, and may include monthly precipitation in dry seasons, annual low flow and annual maximum peak discharge data. This model has two parameters, which are derived using the method of moments. The model is tested on real data.
