Hydrological data pre-processing for reservoir planning analysis: Case study using data from England and Iran
Abstract
The analysis and use of hydrological data for decision making in water resources can only be meaningful if the data possess the right characteristics. In general, it is customary that data being analysed are consistent, free of trend, constituting a random series and are following the appropriate probability distribution hypothesis. These characteristics were investigated during the course of an extensive water resources planning study recently carried out. The results and the experience gained during the exercise form the subject of this paper.
