Abstract

In August 1999, an effective earthquake occurred on the East Coast of the Marmara Sea, and some marine structures destroyed. After destroying of these structures, environmental loads affecting on those are taken into consideration again by some investigators. In this study, the environmental loads that include the current, wave, wind and earthquake loads are compared with each other. A computer model for designing of marine structures is developed, and applied to a special structure as a pier in this region. SAP 2000, structures analyzing computer program, depends on finite element method is used for analyzing the marine structure. The findings show that the earthquake load is more effective than current and wave loads in the Marmara Sea coastal.
