Abstract

The north part of Gorgan with area of 63000 hectares rangeland and 1.4 million livestock unit has dry climate, low precipitation and shortage of water resources. Water harvesting activities such as construction of earth dam, impervious water catchments, with low efficiency and high structural cost have not solved completely the water problem for ranchers. Economic consideration to the regional condition such as affective use of water resources, study on catchments factors and efficiency on water harvesting system could be more useful for solving water problem in the area. Also it is suggested that to give the responsibility of water resources management and expenditure to the local ranchers.
