Discontinuous deformation analysis for wave-induced pore pressure in front of a breakwater
Abstract
In this study, a Discontinuous Deformation Analysis (DDA) is proposed to investigate the wave-induced pore pressure in a porous seabed in front of a breakwater. Unlike previous investigations for the wave-seabed interaction, the deformation of soil elements is considered to be discontinuous. This model is particularly useful for the case with large deformation. With the proposed model, deformations in foundation soil can be simulated. In this study, modifications are made to improve the restriction of Discontinuous Deformation Analysis (DDA) and examples are presented in this paper. The behavior of soil under composite breakwater is analysed. The difference of the wave-induced pore pressure reaches 40kN/m 2 , which is about, 1% of the static water pressureunder certain combination of wave and soil conditions.
