Fifth-order approximation to short-crested waves
Abstract
Wave reflection from a vertical wall is a vital issue in design of coastal structure. In this study, a fifth-order perturbation approximation for the three-dimensional short-crested wave system in front of a vertical wall is derived. With the newly analytical solution, basic wave characteristics will be investigated. The numerical results indicate that the fifth-order component significantly affects the wave characteristics, wave profile and wave pressure in shallow water. Also, the bifurcation of wave frequency is found major to come form the third-order component of wave frequency.
