Abstract

An experimental and numerical investigation on screw anchors is presented. A batch of screw anchors with embedment lengths of 58mm, 80mm and 100mm has been tested in normal strength concrete (42-55MPa) and high strength concrete (82-100MPa). The program NONFEAP was used to perform a numerical analysis. It has been found that the prediction for the ultimate load from the analysis is consistent with the test results with good accuracy. Finally a parametric analysis is performed using the program and the results are compared with the widely used ACI and CCD design methods.
