New bryozoan faunas from the Miocene of Burgenland (Austria)
Abstract
Taxonomical studies of two bryozoan faunas (Stotzing: 43 taxa [except for the Celleporids] and Forchtenstein: approximately 100 ta.xa) from the Badenian (Middle Miocene) of Burgenland (Austria) have yielded among others additional results concerning a number of species which are either new for the Austrian Miocene (Umbonula spinosa, ? Triporuld) or had been only insufficiently described until now (e.g, Schizoslomella grinzingensis, Smittistoma polyomma, Kionidella moravica) . Detailed descriptions and data for seven of these taxa are given. Some of these species are of interest also in connection with problems Of palaeobiogeography.
