Abstract

An Upper Eocene bryozoan marl from Perwang-1 borehole (Salzburg, Austria) was studied and found to contain 129 bryozoan species in four sections. Three studied sections arc very similar and represent a repetition of the same environment; a cool-water and/or deep-water basin with rapid and large-scaled oscillations of relative sea level. One studied section represents a different environment: a very shallow basin with a hard bottom. The described bryozoan fauna is similar to that from Holmberg-1 borehole from the Austrian Molasse Zone and to that of the Buda marl from Budapest, Hungary.
