Abstract

This paper reports the All-Digital Design education at the School of Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering, the University of Oklahoma (OU). Currently, the core curriculum consists of three major courses, AME 4193 Introduction to CAD, AME 4283 Concurrent Design and Manufacturing, and AME 4263 Computer Integrated Manufacturing. These courses are usually offered in junior or senior year. These three courses significantly enhance the Mechanical Engineering curriculum in design and manufacturing, and provide students with knowledge and skill on employing virtual prototyping and rapid prototyping technologies for product development following the All-Digital Design paradigm. This paper also presents the typical design projects that students have been working on, as well as future enhancement.
