Abstract

Three kinds of bulk forming processes are simulated with DEFORM https://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"> T M respectively. The first process is rotary forging of a flange with a rod. The second is rotary forming of a circular disk with a central hole. According to the analysis of stress-strain rate states, the deformation conditions in rotary forging are not absolutely axial-symmetrical because of the partial loading during rotary forging so that the final part is not normative axial symmetrical. Meanwhile, underfill defect is predicted to assist the design of dies and processes. The third one is indenting-closing extrusion of a tyre nut, by which the fracture reasons of the punch are concluded that the unreasonable punch dimensions affects metal flow and then enhances the tensile stress put on the punch when it is drawn out of the nut hole.
