Abstract

Petri nets have been used to model workflow processes successfully. It is, however, not very efficient in the modeling of families of workflow processes. In this paper we introduce the use of Colored Petri nets (WFCPnet) to represent a family of workflow processes with similar process routes and logic rules using the same model. To support the use of WFCP-net, we have developed a suite of tools including: a process structure graph editor, a WFscript (workflow script language for writing business rules) editor and translator (translate WFscript into Java class) and a dynamically loadable workflow engine.
