A new concept to maximizing the benefits from implementing concurrent engineering with project management
Abstract
Concurrent Engineering (CE) and Project Management (PM) have been linked since the genesis of the former approach, at the beginning of the 90’s. The view of PM community about CE is not homogenous however, and conversely, CE academics and practitioners do not seem to share the same perception about PM. What then has PM to do with CE? This question is answered through a theoretical concept proposed by the authors, based on an extensive review of the literature and the “distillation” of the essences of these cognate disciplines. The theoretical approach developed also serves to maximize the benefits from implementing CE with PM and vice versa.
