Discovered and undiscovered potentials of mobile computing in engineering
Abstract
The paper presents an overview of the key concepts of mobile computing, with a special focus on its applicability in civil engineering. The authors are addressing the fundamental questions of real and immaterial informational space (cyberspace) and their mapping and matching, which are interesting from philosophical as well as practical viewpoints. The paper, however resides on practical experiences, which have been accumulated through a two cycle project e-site. This experimental, educational, and research project has mainly been aimed towards discovering the potentials of mobile computing in construction.
