Abstract

Highly strengthened Aerated Lightweight Concrete (HALC) is effective not only for making lightweight concrete members but also for reducing the waste of aggregate resources. By applying high-strength cement paste, compressive strength of HALC was equivalent to those of the ordinary concrete. HALC contains an artificial lightweight aggregate and a large amount of entrained air. This aggregate was made with waste glass and was coated by hardened clay. In this study, the shrinkage properties of HALC were investigated. The influences of the air content, the matrix strength and the aggregate properties for autogenous shrinkage were elucidated. The experimental formula for expressing the shrinkage property of HALC was proposed.
