Abstract

A series of experimental tests were conducted, where restrained deformations were imposed to the one-dimensional concrete specimen by both reinforcing restraint and frame restraint. The early-age restrained deformation characteristics of high-strength concrete using low-heat Portland cement were investigated. The restrained deformations were evaluated using a step-by-step method based on a non-linear rheological creep analysis. Two types of curing methods were alternatively employed: sealed and drying conditions. Restrained deformations of concrete under sealed and dried conditions were evaluated taken into consideration both tensile and drying creep properties. The results of specimens using low-heat Portland cement revealed that the influence of drying shrinkage on the cracking process is more significant than that of autogenous shrinkage.
