Designing distributed component-based finite element software
Abstract
Distributed component-based technologies, which are briefly described, can enable development of extendible finite element software solutions that can be extended without the need to modify the client code. When designing and implementing distributed applications developers must be aware of the differences between local and distributed objects. To illustrate distributed design concepts an existing centralized component-based program for structural analysis using the finite element method was redesigned to take advantage of the distributed computing environment.
