Abstract

This paper addresses the favourable effect produced by air entrained by free-falling jets on the mean dynamic pressures on plunge pool floors. An analysis of the information available in literature is presented. A combination of independent proposals by different authors is compiled into an equation, allowing the estimation of the effect of aeration in the dynamic pressure on the pool floor. A comparison is made between results given by the suggested equation and experimental data obtained by the author with submerged rectangular and vertical air water jets.
