Vibrateability Predictions using the ß-Method
Abstract
As part of an extensive test pile programme on the soil characteristics which determine to a great extend the vibrateability of piles, a prediction event was organised prior to pile installation. Purpose was to validate the existing prediction methods on their accuracy, as well as to determine the sensitivity of some of the parameters. The author participated in the contest using the β -method as developed by ICE BV some 15 years ago. The paper describes the background of the method, its input and output parameters, and the prediction and postdiction results for the test piles. Test piles were https://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" display="inline"> 339 × 14 m m closed ended, 32 m long tubular piles, driven by an ICE-815 vibratory hammer.
