Abstract

Monitoring results of some monitoring sites on Huai River in Jiangsu section were employed to make pilot analysis on the transboundary pollution state of the river and the policy influence on it. Data exploration showed that the intensive administrative intervention in pollution control action during 1996–1997 period in Huai River Basin significantly reduced the transboundary pollution problem of Huai River at the Jiangsu-Anhui boundary, while the major pollutant indices of Huai River in Xuyi section changed as well. Moreover, the predomination of the index of NH 3 –N implied more improvements should be made in Xuyi to meet the strict requirements of Ecological Agriculture Demonstration.
