Abstract

Symmetric positive definite equation solvers play a very important role in structural analysis. For a larger and larger structural system promoting the efficiency of the solvers is the key of application of finite element analyses (FEA). The focus of this paper is to compare the cell sparse solver that has been developed by authors with several top sparse solvers available in literatures. The performance in terms of elapsed time and memory requirement of different solvers are demonstrated by finding static displacement vectors for practical engineering problems. Numerical tests indicate that the cell-sparse solver has overall the best performance on PC machine.
