A measurement model for C++ program complexity analysis
Abstract
C++ programming language does not enforce the programmers to code with the Object-Oriented (OO) features. Consequently, the program characteristics may not be meeting the structural requirement even though it performs well for the given inputs. This paper presents a measurement model, which can be used to measure the OO features: encapsulation, inheritance, polymorphism and coupling in the C++ program using appropriate metrics. Measuring the static code gives the indices for each of the OO properties, which can be compared with the expected values. From these numerical values the behavior of the program can be analyzed.
