Abstract

Wool fabrics are one of the most traditional materials for garments in the world, and the most suitable fabrics for the cold winter in the Europe. Outwear clothes, particularly men’s wear, are greatly influenced by our current way of life: our garments are much lighter than our fathers’ and grandfathers’. We live in much better heated surroundings, and the fabric structure has become more open, less rigid, because we like to move in an easier way, we pay more attention to comfort and less to the formal aspects. As a consequence of this evolution, the global concept of quality to accomplish the exigencies of end users is dynamic, apart from the technical performance of the textile materials, it also takes care of parameters such as handle, thermophysiological comfort and appearances of new garments, during its life time, etc. In this work, 17 parameters of the physical/mechanical properties are to be measured, and based on multivariate statistical analysis we establish a fundamental understanding of the phenomenon of fabric handle and we maximize the KES-FB System information.
