Eccentricity ratio effects on the behavior of eccentrically loaded CFST columns
Abstract
This paper is based on the study of eighteen CFST short columns tested under eccentric compression. The parameters considered in the experiments are the eccentricity ratio, steel ratio and grade of concrete. The interpretation of the experimental results indicates that the effect of eccentricity ratio is most remarkable on the behavior and the ultimate load carrying capacity of CFST eccentric columns. The behavior of specimens with small eccentricity ratio is similar to that of the centrally compressed members. As the eccentricity ratio increases, the hoop confining force effect of the steel tube on the core concrete decreases.
