Probabilistic displacement-based seismic design of SDOF system
Abstract
The primary objective of this paper is to develop a probabilistic displacement-based design procedure, in which the seismic displacement response of structures can be assessed probabilistically in the form of fragility curves. For this purpose, the indicators of earthquake intensity, material quantities and structural response are described as random variables. The fragility curves are developed utilizing displacement response spectra method. The general displacement response spectra are proposed from a dataset comprised of more than 500 strong motions recorded around the world using a new data correction algorithm. Four performance Levels are defined depending on the structural importance. A reinforced column is simplified as SDOF system to illustrate the procedure.
