Abstract

In order to estimate the migration ability of pollutants in the tailings, tritium analysis of two profiles per each tailing, were conducted. The uppermost layer made from heap material shows average tritium contents of 15 TU and can be thus considered as recent rain water. Based on the mean value of the tritium maximums in all cores and using a dispersion flow model, it can be concluded that the infiltration rate in the tailings is low with a mean value approximately 8.8 cm/a.
