Prediction of the behaviour of pollutants by means of hydrochemical model
Abstract
Hydrochemical study was conducted at the uranium tailings of “Schneckenstein” to define the different hydrochemical parameters of pore water in the tailing system. In order to calculate the distribution of species and saturation indices, the hydrochemical model PHREEQC was used. Thus, it shows high solubility of most of elements. It also show the change in chemical conditions between the heap materials and the tailing sediments characterised by the considerable decrease of the Eh values with depth which indicates the change of the medium to post aerobic or anaerobic conditions.
