Abstract

This chapter provides engineering personnel with general design guidance to select, specify, inspect, and approve biolubricants for their equipment. Changing from conventional mineral oil based lubricants to biolubricants is not always simply a matter of one-to-one substitution. Furthermore, biolubricants are not necessarily equal in performance to one another. In order to make the switch over a success the following properties of biolubricants should be given thorough consideration.
