Abstract

The LLINCWA project was carried out under the 5 th Framework Programme within the Innovation programme of DG Enterprise. This Innovation programme, specifically focusing on the development of the innovation concept , turned out to be an excellent place for the further concentration of the attention on the need to introduce biolubricants in applications in and around the aquatic environment. As has been explained earlier the emphasis has been put on the non-technical aspects of the innovation process to realise a successful introduction of the biolubricants in the market. LLINCWA made a combination of methodological research to collect knowledge on economic, environmental, social and organisational aspects of (acceptance of) biolubricants and combined this with pilot projects where the use of biolubricants was tested in practice followed by dissemination of the results. Figure 6.1 The LLINCWA team on board during the Sailing Campaign in Trier A photograph shows the L L I N C W A team poses on a boat during a sailing campaign in Trier. The team consists of 17 individuals, including men and women, dressed in formal and semi-formal attire. They are standing on the deck of the boat, with a scenic backdrop of houses and trees along the riverbank. The team is holding a banner that reads &s;Lubrifiants pour des rivières propres&s;, which translates to &s;Lubricants for clean rivers&s;. The atmosphere is formal and professional, indicating a significant event or campaign related to environmental conservation. https://www.w3.org/1999/xlink" xlink:href=" https://s3-euw1-ap-pe-df-pch-content-public-p.s3.eu-west-1.amazonaws.com/9781003762607/e3c850d7-8b24-402a-976b-e824395041b4/content/fig6_1.jpg "/>
